Last year I was hired as second photographer by Elizabeth Austin for a lovely Anderson House summer wedding. The bride and groom were an absolute dream to work with and I have to admit, they are one of the coolest couples ever!
To begin, I captured Dennis and the men getting ready at the Grand Hyatt and a few portraits of Dennis before boarding transportation to Anderson House. We then took a few group portraits prior to Rykia and the bridesmaids’ arrival. Elizabeth chose the upstairs hallways for their first look, and it was completely magical. My favorite moment of the day was Rykia processing down the grand steps into the ceremony, wowing her guests and transforming the mood. The couple exchanged vows and ended with a ceremonial broom hop before sharing an excited kiss down the aisle.
The outdoor reception space designed by Simply Breathe Events for this wedding day was stunning. I enjoyed working with Tiffany, the company’s lead planner and designer. Furthermore, the string trio and custom gift boxes crafted for every place setting were lovely details. The couple opted for a custom Pop Rocks cocktail as well, prepping the guests for what was to come. Later after dinner, family members toasted the couple and wished them well into their new marriage. To finish out the night, Rykia and Dennis joined their family on the dance floor and celebrated in style.
It was a pleasure working with Elizabeth Austin for this beautiful day! If you liked this Anderson House wedding, be sure to check out the blog for more weddings I’ve photographed in DC!
