Modern & exceptional wedding photography.

This Kennedy Center & The Reach engagement session was captured by Michelle Whitley in October 2021. Michelle is a Kennedy Center engagement photographer and Washington D.C. wedding photographer available for weddings and portraits throughtout Washington D.C. and beyond.

I met Emily and Michael in Washington D.C. last October for their Kennedy Center engagement session. These two actually found me after seeing Caroline and Marcel‘s engagement images, and I am so excited to be working with another sweet couple among friends!

How They Met

A mutual friend suggested that we should connect, but never made an introduction. We both recognized each other on a dating app and figured that we could trust our friend’s judgment. We quickly exchanged numbers and set up our first date at Union Market.

The Proposal

Michael gave many false leads (on purpose) to drive Emily crazy. He finally proposed when she wasn’t expecting it. He proposed on the National Mall during a beautiful pink sunset. We celebrated with tacos afterward. Michael proposed on December 13th, knowing that Emily’s family’s lucky number is 13. It was also during Hanukkah; best gift ever!

What are your favorite things to do together?

We love spending time in DC even though we recently moved to the suburbs. We love going to restaurants, sporting events, and concerts. Our ideal date night would be going out to a nice restaurant followed by a concert, topped off with ice cream at the end of the night.
