This chic winter Valentine’s Day wedding was one of my favorites so far in 2020. Yasmina and Jon were able to get married right before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. I was a second photographer for Emily Blumberg this day, and it was an enjoyable one, to say the least!
We began the day in DC’s The Wharf neighborhood at the Hyatt House. Yasmina and Jon had their first look there as well as a few chilly portraits on the pier before it got too cold. We then made our way back inside to the hotel bar for some warmer pictures on the stairs.
Weddings in February/winter months can be quite tricky in terms of lighting. It’s important to know that if you want daylight portraits for a winter wedding, a First Look is an absolute must! Waiting to do portraits after the ceremony can risk running low on sunlight, or requires an earlier ceremony time. Many couples exchange vows in the evening hours between 4-6PM, so a First Look is generally the best option!
After arriving at District Winery at sunset, we spent time on the heated terrace for a few more pictures. Once photos were completed it was time for the ceremony! The dusky blue lighting seen through District Winery’s huge wall of glass windows makes for an incredible winter wedding ceremony.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Emily Blumberg for this fabulous wedding day. Enjoy my favorite snaps from Yasmina and Jon’s day below!
