These cotton field family photos had been in my short-term plans for a couple years now. Last month Michael and I flew home to Mississippi to visit family for a few days before going to Mexico for vacation. We had never stayed gone to Mississippi that long since living in Maryland. Usually we go for holidays and get 2-3 days off at a time. Now that I work from home and Michael is a full-time dietician, we have more time off. We took the opportunity to spend half of our two-week vacation with family, and it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
Before we arrived in Mississippi I wanted to make sure there was a photographer available who could take a few pictures of us since we were all together. Ashley Upchurch was someone I’d been following for years and was excited when she told me she was available. I loved Ashley’s local work in the cotton fields so I asked right away if that was a location option, and she said yes!
The day of our session the sun was shining and the weather was beautiful. I couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather! Michael and I brought along his parents, his dad’s parents, his mom’s mother, and his uncle, for a total of eight people. Everyone present is on his side of the family, however his sister was unable to make it to the session.
These are some of my all-time favorite photos of Michael. I love his genuine smiles and relaxed body language, and he was such a trooper! I was thankful for his patience and support for the rest of the family. I’m also grateful we grabbed a few shots of Michael’s grandparents who are in their 80s. They will be such keepsakes and wonderful memories someday. Our cotton field family photos are so dreamy, and I’m so glad we made time to do it!
Thank you Ashley Upchurch Photography for the beautiful images!
